New Orleans Pelicans Sweep Portland Trail Blazers

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Pelicans say they've voided around 2,500 playoff tickets that were purchased improperly during a pre-sale event for the second round of the National Basketball Association playoffs. There is much optimism for this young team. Only a half-dozen or so teams have max-level space this season, and most won't pursue Cousins at that level, sources say. If that wasn't enough, the Pelicans outscored the Trail Blazers by over nine points per game in the four victories.

The 25-year-old Davis is now in his sixth season in New Orleans. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka was one of the witnesses to Kobe's injury-riddled final years in the league, and is said to be more than capable of deciding whether or not it is best for the team to go after Cousins this summer.

Surface and more advanced numbers show the Pelicans have been better without Cousins, since he is turnover-prone and can be a liability defensively. "From player personnel to the front office, whatever it may be, we're trying to let everybody know that New Orleans is a place where we're trying to win - and he's the key piece you need". Following an unforeseen 4-0 mauling of the third-seeded Portland Trail Blazers, the organization will have to assess the impending free agency of their starting center, DeMarcus Cousins over the offseason.

Had Cousins never suffered this injury, it would be nearly a no-brainer for New Orleans to max him out. But Davis averaged an NBA-high 30.2 points during the last 34 regular season games, with the Pelicans going 21-13.

The New Orleans Pelicans are awaiting their second-round opponent. I would suspect Davis is more of a front-runner about the beginning of next season.

As ESPN's Zach Lowe puts it, the Pelicans and Cousins could be nearing a divorce. During the playoffs, Rondo has emerged as the club's third star, piling up 53 assists in four games. He scored a total of 126 points in that series.

Davis wants Rondo back next year as well, and very well may get his wish.

One of the biggest question marks going into the series will be the health of Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who hasn't played since March 23 because of a sprained MCL.
