H1Z1 Coming to PS4 for Free with Open Beta Late Spring

H1Z1 Coming to PS4 for Free with Open Beta Late Spring

A new edition of Daybreak Games' H1Z1 will be coming to the PlayStation 4 next month.

"Whether it's enough to draw those crowds back to Daybreak and the progenitor of battle royale games is a different story, but H1Z1 deserves a lot of credit for the strides it's taken towards polishing an inherently rough and ready genre". Remember, the game is only going into open beta on May 22, with no now announced launch timetable.

H1Z1 on PS4 is designed specifically for the console and focuses exclusively on the core elements that make battle royale exciting.

Daybreak has announced that H1Z1, one of the oldest battle royale shooters on PC, will be making its way to PS4. Up to one hundred and fifty players could compete against each other to be the last one standing after parachuting down onto a random part of a large-scale map. For a chance to get in on the closed beta, simply sign up at the H1Z1 website.

H1Z1 now features a grab-and-go equipment system, simplifying loot collection and inventory management; a familiar radial weapon menu so players can quickly switch between guns and grenades; and a revamped HUD that delivers vital information at-a-glance.

The Open Beta will begin on May 22nd, complete with a control system tailor-made for the PS4.

The game's gas pacing has been altered to speed up the play of the match and the airdrop system has been revamped to keep players moving and invested in fights. At the start of a match players will only have access to six base weapon types with airdrops being crucial to surviving the match and coming out on top in battle royal.

For those not looking forward to fighting over airdrops, the game will also have special crates hidden around the map (on the ground) that contain high-level weapons and armour.

PlayStation Plus Members will receive 20% off their preorder purchase, too. As a bonus, those that own a PlayStation 4 Pro will be able to run the game at 60 frames-per-second. Players can now pre-order a special bundle that comes with unique cosmetic items for $29.99 (PS Plus subscribers get a special discount).
