Avicii's family thanks fans for 'support and loving words' since his death

Avicii's family have released a statement following his death, which occurred last week.

Avicii's family have thanked his fans for their "loving words" after his death last week. I find comfort knowing that Tim's music touched the lives of billions, and that his spirit and memory will live on in all of our hearts forever.

"Thank you to the initiatives to honour Tim, like the gathering at Sergels Torg, church bell playing his music and minutes of silence all around the world", the statement read, which was posted to Facebook. We are grateful for the privacy during this hard time. "Our wish is that it continues that way", the family said in a statement.

A cause of death has yet to be announced, but autopsies carried out have shown that there was no criminal intent or foul play involved.

Fans gathered in Stockholm on Saturday to pay tribute to the 28-year-old Swedish superstar.

"Creating music is what makes me happy and I have gotten to know so many great people in my days of touring, seen so many awesome places and created endless of good memories", he posted on social media at the time. He recently announced that he'd begun work on new music.

The Australian DJ performed on Friday just hours after news of Avicii's passing broke.

"In my darkest hour, I went to Sweden and he was there for me and we found light in great conversation and in music", Jean tweeted.
