Trump Has 'An Emptiness' And 'Hunger For Affirmation,' James Comey Claims

According to the newspaper, Comey himself redacted portions of one memo before sharing it, and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials later upgraded the classification of the other memo as "confidential", the lowest level of classification.

According to Comey's account of Trump's story, Trump was giving a toast to UK Prime Minister Theresa May and explained she had been the first to congratulate him after he won the presidency. "I'm a germaphobe!" The theme continued, according to memos just released by Comey. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Comey earned about $6 million during his previous year at Bridgewater.

Comey recounts an Oval Office conversation from February 2017 in which Trump raises the prospect of jailing journalists who benefit from leaked information. The president told Comey that "he is trying to do work for the country, visit with foreign leaders, and any cloud, even a little cloud, gets in the way of that", Comey wrote, referring to "the Russian Federation thing".

Trump has been infuriated by the released of Comey's book, "A Higher Loyalty".

"So General Michael Flynn's life can be totally destroyed while Shadey James Comey can Leak and Lie and make lots of money from a third rate book (that should never have been written)", President Trump tweeted early Friday.

Trump fired James Comey in May of a year ago.

On Thursday, Comey also addressed whether the FBI leaks were the source of an article that appeared in The New York Times on October 31, just eight days before the election, under the headline, "Investigating Donald Trump, FBI Sees No Clear Link to Russian Federation". Trump then said that reporters should be jailed over the leaks.

Comey was referring to the dossier's reported rumor that Trump had hired prostitutes to urinate on a hotel bed during a trip to Russian Federation.

They include details about conversations, including discussions of lurid allegations that Trump saw prostitutes in Moscow in 2013 and that Trump told the then-FBI chief that he "demanded loyalty and expected loyalty". Just days after Trump fired Comey, the president said he did it because of "this Russian Federation thing". Trump later brought up the leaks again and Comey "said something about the value of putting a head on a pike as a message".

"I said to him, 'Sir that's up to you but you want to be careful about that because it might create a narrative that we're investigating you personally and, second, it's very hard to prove something didn't happen, '" Comey said. Comey said he did not comment at the time. Before Trump and Comey met alone, US intelligence chiefs briefed Trump and his advisers about the Russian election meddling. Comey insisted that McCabe didn't hold a grudge over the criticism and that McCabe was "an honorable person".
