Lacklustre Leicester hold Southampton to goalless draw

Fousseni Diabate of Leicester City is challenged by Cedric Soares of Southampton during the Premier League match between Leicester City and Southampton at The King Power Stadium on April 19, 2018 in Leicester, England.

A point moves Southampton within four points of 17th-placed Swansea City, but the Welsh side have a game in hand over Mark Hughes' beleaguered outfit.

The 30-year-old, who made his first start in the Premier League for three years against Southampton due to Kasper Schmeichel being injured, told the club's official website: "We are disappointed not to win and it's a point in the right direction. We need maximum points from that", said Hughes, whose team are without a win in eight Premier League games.

However we're going to get to a degree the place we're simply going to need to throw every thing at it. The players are a bit flat but we are not in the situation where we are downhearted.

'There was somewhat little bit of apprehension in our play, which is comprehensible to an extent as we knew we would have liked one thing out of the sport'.

"But given the fact we haven't been able to pick up any points in recent weeks, clearly it is a positive and we must take it as a positive".

But looking back to yesterday, who stood out?

The result means it is now three games without a win for the Foxes, but boss Claude Puel is not concerned and believes if they show the same level of performance next time out the result will be markedly different.

Leicester finally carved out a chance in the 71st minute, with a route one approach that proved more effective than the slow dross which had preceded it. Long is played through on goal to Tadic but the Serbia global takes a poor touch before Foxes keeper Hamer comfortably gathers.
