Avenfield case: Maryam's counsel concludes cross-examination of Wajid Zia

A three-judge full bench headed by Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and comprising Justice Atir Mahmood and Justice Masood Jahangir resumed hearing of 27 miscellaneous contempt petitions against the ruling party leaders for making anti-judiciary remarks. He said the bench also dismissed Sharif's petition challenging the jurisdiction of the court in this matter.

"PEMRA has also been directed by the LHC to strictly monitor TV channels with regard to airing any anti-judiciary speeches/remarks and submit a report after 15 days", a court official told PTI.

As many as three corruption references had been filed against the Sharif family, on the directives of the top court which pertain to the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment, offshore companies including Flagship Investment Ltd, and Avenfield properties of London.

The case of the Sharif family's upscale London flats is based on a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the Supreme Court's directives previous year.

As per Avenfield Properties reference, Sharif, his brood and his son-in-law, retired Captain Mohammad Safdar, had purchased four flats in Park Lane, UK, without legitimate financial means.

"The judge authored the order against Nawaz Sharif allowing no chance of defence", the application filed by Dogar read.

The PML-N leaders were served notices by the court to appear in person or by counsel today.

The petitioner further said their tirade was going unnoticed.

During the hearing Pemra was slammed for not taking action on the complaints about airing of anti-judiciary content on the television channels.
