Shenmue 1 and 2 headed to PS4, Xbox One and PC

During the Sega Fes event in Japan, the publisher announced it is bringing both the first Shenmue and its sequel, Shenmue II, together in one package to PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year. The Dreamcast didn't sell particularly well, so this re-release will put the original games in front of many who missed out at the time.

Sometimes, that revenge quest involves wandering through a suburban or urban sprawl, tracking down shady characters, and getting into bar fights. And while they will boast some improvements, these are not full on HD remakes or remasters.

Shenmue I & II, a collection that includes remastered versions of the first 2 installments of the SEGA franchise, was announced last week and is a fact that will reach America.

The Shenmue games tell a story of intrigue and mystery as Ryo Hazuki searches for answers to his father's murder and to unlock the mysteries of an artifact called the Dragon's Mirror. Sega claims its "original feature set" in terms of "jujitsu combat, investigative sleuthing, and RPG elements" will make a comeback in addition to "real-time open worlds that feel truly alive thanks to day-to- night cycles and weather changes, with a population of civilians who follow their own schedules". All we know is that it will be released this year with no exact date.

As well as both Japanese and English voice work, there'll also be extra features for PC players, including a choice between retro and contemporary control schemes, and scalable screen resolutions.
