Pep Guardiola says winning Premier League title will be among top feats

Pep Guardiola will be on the golf course as Manchester City wait for news of the Manchester United match that could see them crowned champions on Sunday.

Kompany, like most others, was caught on the hop by West Bromwich Albion's shock victory at Manchester United, a result that meant City were confirmed as champions with a record-equalling five games remaining.

But he said Guardiola's hunger and desire to get better had rubbed off on all the players, including himself.

Beaten just once while winning 29 of their 38 games, Chelsea finished 12 points clear to claim their first top-flight title in 50 years and only the second in the club's history.

Asked how it felt to be part of another title-winning squad, he added: "Yeah, its special, I'm privileged to be part of such a great group, great players, good guys, good mentality, good atmosphere in the team, every single time I'm on the pitch I enjoy it".

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reacts on the touchline during the Premier League match between Swansea City and Manchester City at Liberty Stadium on December 13, 2017 in Swansea, Wales.

City's season was at risk of derailing after suffering a 5-1 aggregate defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League earlier this week, but Guardiola believes that lifting the title will more than make up for the disappointment of crashing out of Europe.

"Today I am happy and I suppose my team-mates might roll their eyes at this, but I want to see the reaction now".

"And, fingers crossed, he will go to Russian Federation injury free and still in good form, and as a Premier League victor to boot".

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany on Sky Sports: "We were consistent the whole season and were able to play at the level we were expected to perform at".

They've now won three of the last seven PL titles available. Previous times, we almost threw it away and that was a feature of every season we won it.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne on Twitter: "Unbelievable season for us".

"People say it was a big failure last week".

"We didn't take our first chance, so hopefully we can take the second chance to celebrate with our fans next week", Guardiola said. It is possible to win the league that way.
