Man held for indulging in obscene act at woman's doorstep

The suspects have been remanded in police custody.

The husband of the woman found dead in a Sussex home on Friday has paid tribute to her, police has confirmed.

Her mother, Giles, was waving at her daughter from inside the home, according to police.

The matter came to fore after the family members of the woman, who was seven-month pregnant, lodged a complaint with the Pattamundai police.

She was kidnapped March 30 when she went out with Kuldeep and was with him till 11.30 pm.

She was taken to court the next morning, where bail was denied, and was later transported to the Middelburg police station, where she was first taken to a room that was "full of blood and blood clots" and then to a cell with no food, blankets or furniture.

Chauhan flashed at the woman while she was standing at her balcony.

The victim alleged that she got a chance to escape and ran towards the highway where she met two unidentified men who allegedly assisted her to board a public utility jeepney (PUJ) towards the city proper.

On April 9, the woman fled Kuldeep's home and reached her parents' home.

They knew of the torture the woman suffered and had intervened on several occasions in the past, the officials said. The police have registered a case under sections 345D (stalking) 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 344 (wrongful confinement for ten or more days), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code.
