Flag bearer Kurt Fearnley didn't want the blunder to be the lasting memory of the games.

Channel Seven's broadcast team were particularly scathing of the event which saw the ceremony start with the athletes already in the stadium rather the teams entering the stadium during the celebrations.

Zempilas also pointed out the speeches from the dignitaries dragged on for "way too long" and were a little "self-indulgent".

A diverse and contemporary ceremony of music, lights and dance with the words and imagery of indigenous Australia very much at its heart brought an end to the XXI Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

Nine world records fell and 83 Games records were broken, while five countries won Commonwealth medals for first time ever in the 21st instalment of the Commonwealth Games.

England got the second position with 45 gold medal, 45 silver medals and 46 bronze medals with an aggregated total of 136 medals, followed India with 66 medals including 26 gold, 20 silver and as many bronze medals while Canada got fourth position with 82 medals including 15 gold, 40 silver and 27 bronze medals.
