Wolverhampton Wolves promotion to the Premier League confirmed

Fulham's draw with Brentford means they now trail Wolves by 10 points with only three matches remaining.

The Midlanders have led by instance within the Championship this season regardless of irking rivals over their relationship with agent Jorge Mendes.

They were among the favourites to achieve promotion in 2018 having spent heavily, including signing Porto's Ruben Neves for £15.8 million. Attention now turns to the Championship title, with Wolves nine points ahead of Cardiff City in second place.

However, Wolves' big spending has provoked complaints for other sides in the league.

Mendes is the founder of the Gestifute agency which represents a host of worldwide stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nuno will clinch promotion on Sunday if Wolves beat Birmingham at Molineux, but the Portuguese is refusing to abandon his hardline stance.

That strike helped edge Wolves closer to the Premier League and they could seal promotion this Sunday when they face Birmingham, live on Sky Sports.

Two clubs are automatically promoted from the 24-team second-tier Championship with teams in third to sixth vying for the third promotion spot via the play-offs.

They finished bottom on that occasion and quickly dropped into League One with relegation from the Championship the following season.
