NBC5 Forecast: Plenty of sun today but still cool

Afternoon would actually be worse because that would give the atmosphere more time to heat and create more instability. If any individual storms develop ahead of the line, they may become supercells, capable of large hail and possibly tornadoes in addition to the damaging wind threat.

As we get later into Saturday night and we are heading into Sunday, the severe storm risk isn't as high, but that doesn't mean it will be quiet.

Boating conditions will be hazardous all day Sunday into Monday.

We have a tornado watch until 2 this afternoon across the area. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-50s with winds gusting to 20 miles per hour for a much cooler than normal mid-April day. It will be nice weather for the festivals, but you will want to wear dark colors and a jacket to keep warm!

"The Storm Prediction Center even highlighted our area for a tornado threat, saying, ". a strong tornado or two" would be possible. Don't put that winter coat away just yet!

SATURDAY NIGHT DETAILS: Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies and the risk for a stray shower will be minimal, around 10-20%. It will also be breezy out of the southeast with winds between 15-20 miles per hour. Another front arrives by Wednesday, bringing only a small chance for rain Wednesday afternoon and evening. Southerly wind 5-10 miles per hour.

Tomorrow we see a big change in our temperatures - our high will only be 47 degrees with a 50% chance for a mix of rain and snow showers.

Some of the storms could be strong in the afternoon. It looks like accumulation today will be in a two to five inch range with strong northeast winds doing what they can to blow it around, making for bad travel conditions. Highs around 77. Wind S 15-25 miles per hour.
