Multi-state E.Coli outbreak sickens two in CT

There have been six people hospitalized, including one for a form of kidney failure, but no deaths, the CDC says. An additional four have been reported in Idaho, and two cases each in CT and Pennsylvania. They should also track the foods they've eaten and restaurants they've eaten in the week prior to becoming ill.

The states that reported cases of infection are New Jersey, Idaho, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Ohio, and Washington.

As I've mentioned above, there is only one confirmed case of E. Coli infection in the OH state.

In conclusion, E. Coli outbreak in the USA has reached OH, where, until now, only one confirmed case has been registered by the CDC. It springs up when the toxins from the bacteria spread from the intestines into the blood and cause damage to small blood vessels. Those infected are between the ages of 12 and 84. Despite the fact that 7 USA states have been affected by E. Coli, so far, only New Jersey seems to concentrate most of the cases with 6 confirmed E. Coil infections. Luckily, none of the patients have died.

According to the CDC, the investigation is still ongoing, and a specific food item, grocery store, or restaurant chain has not been identified as the source of infections, although health officials in New Jersey implicated Panera as a possible source.

"State and local public health officials are interviewing ill people to determine what they ate and other exposures in the week before their illness started", the CDC said.

Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and vomiting.

To prevent infection, the CDC recommends washing your hands frequently, cooking meat thoroughly, washing fruits and vegetables, avoiding unpasteurized dairy and juices, and avoiding preparing meals for others when sick.
