Tottenham Sweat Over Kane Amid Reports Of Prolonged Absence

Tottenham face an anxious wait to discover the extent of Harry Kane's ankle injury amid reports the England striker could be sidelined for six weeks.

The Tottenham striker limped off in the 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday after tangling with goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

"The England striker sustained the injury following a challenge in our 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday and is expected to return to first team training next month".

The news represents a boost for England ahead of the World Cup after initial fears he could have been out for an extended period.

He also sits out England's two friendlies this month against Holland and Italy, with manager Gareth Southgate names his squad for that double-header on Thursday.

Kane's right ankle was too swollen for a scan on Monday or Tuesday but tests have now revealed the extend of the damage.

Tottenham return to action against Swansea in the FA Cup at the weekend without their talisman.

The target man was supposed to take some pressure off Harry Kane in the Spurs attack, but he has hit just five goals in 28 games in all competitions, and has started just one Premier League game for Tottenham.

Spurs have a league clash against Newcastle to reschedule, while their trip to Brighton on Friday April 20 would also get postponed if they reach the FA Cup's last four.
