49ers linked to top free agent offensive lineman Andrew Norwell

Andrew Norwell is slated to become the NFL's highest-paid guard as he intends to sign a five-year, $66.5 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday.

The 49ers are considering making a significant addition to their offensive line through free agency as the free agent negotiating period begins Monday.

The Ohio State alum in 2017 was the only guard with more than 200 pass blocking snaps to not allow a sack or quarterback hit, according to Pro Football Focus.

Norwell will receive $30 million in guaranteed money.

Left guard Andrew Norwell is leaving the Carolina Panthers; he's reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Norwell was a first-team All-Pro with the Carolina Panthers in 2017 and the preeminent blocker in the free agent crop.

The Norwell signing comes as a bit of a surprise because the New York Giants were reportedly close to landing the top-rated guard.

Not only that, but the Jaguars did have the best rushing offense in the league last season.

While such an injury occurred as a result of his only catch of the season, the 24-year-old tallied just the lone reception, which went for 17 yards.
