Serena Williams, Venus Williams to meet in third round at Indian Wells

Serena Williams, Venus Williams to meet in third round at Indian Wells

"Obviously, I wish it was anybody else in the draw, literally anybody, but that's okay", Serena said ahead of the match.

Richard Williams told USA Today he suffered racial abuse and Venus would later say "she heard whatever he heard". "It's actually something that I really enjoy and that I have a lot of fun with", she told Vogue in 2015.

Last week, Serena even admitted that she nearly walked away from tennis after the birth of her daughter, Olympia. First of all, 17 years ago seems like forever ago.

Keys hasn't made it past the fourth round at Indian Wells in eight tries. Serena Williams, however, is back on court after surviving a post-natal ordeal, which she said nearly took her life away.

Serena Williams will play her sister, Venus today (Monday) in the third round at Indian Wells as she continues her comeback after the birth of her child.

Serena chose to return in 2015, whilst Venus came back to Indian Wells in 2016. "Just have to go out there and see how I am and do my best".

Monday's meeting will be the 29th between the pair, with Serena leading 17-11.

The American who already has two Indian Wells title is vying to become the first woman to make it three here clinched her victory on the second match point when Bertens blasted a forehand as she broke the Dutch's serve six times.

Serena, unseeded in the wake of her long layoff, admitted she would have preferred not to come up against her sister so soon in the draw.

"It's a huge difference to play her in the semifinals or even the quarterfinals or a final as opposed to the third round", she said. I think she's playing great compared to when she was younger.

We don't know too much about her brand yet, but Williams has spoken in the past about the difficulties of finding makeup that can withstand her training routines, meaning it's possible she'll come out with some super-long-lasting, sweat-proof beauty items (fingers crossed).

She fell behind 3-1 early in the second set but rallied by holding serve in the fifth game.

The 23-year-old Svitolina advances to the third round where she will face Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro who beat Hsieh Su-Wei, of Taiwan, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
