Onlookers attack Miami hit-and-run driver after crash

One of the first two men to confront him then snaps the door-handle off his crocked auto, while a long-haired man smashes every one of the Infiniti's windows with a sledgehammer.

Several people tried to stop a driver of a silver SUV from fleeing the scene after crashing into several cars in Miami, and it was all captured on cellphone video. He went on to drive in the wrong direction and crashed into two other vehicles.

Witnesses said the driver crossed over a median in Miami and drove into oncoming traffic, hitting three cars before coming to a stop.

Eyewitness Anthony Jiminez, who saw the drama told abc10: 'You have a crash, you stop.

It was at that point that people gathered around again, with some trying to pry open the vehicle doors, with one man screaming "Don't move", while others snapped pictures of the Infiniti's license plate. They attempt to pull the man from his vehicle, and one even screams, "Don't move".

The driver of the SUV, whose name was not released, was found and taken into custody.

Moments before, it ran a red light at the junction of Biscayne Blvd and Northeast 36th Street.

"I'll call the cops and I'll try to chase him down", Jimenez said. He was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and reckless driving.

Police said Lagutenko was arrested after a Fire Rescue crew that was treating him stopped at the crash site and asked the officer who was taking the accident report whether their patient was involved in the crash.

Instead, officers urge people to call the police with a description of the vehicle.
