NFL Network: Danny Amendola to sign with Miami Dolphins

With Amendola staying in the AFC East, Patriots fans will get to see him take on the Patriots twice in the regular season.

A person familiar with the negotiations says receiver Danny Amendola is discussing a contract offer from the Miami Dolphins and is likely to sign with them when the NFL's new year begins Wednesday.

He handled 27 of New England's punt returns last season, contributing 231 return yards, which averages out to 8.6 yards per return. He heads to Miami coming off the best postseason of his career in 2017. They also still have Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan on the outside, as well as Phillip Dorsett and Kenny Britt.

Amendola becomes the second receiver the Dolphins have reportedly agreed to terms with since the free agent negotiating period opened on Monday. After battling injuries early in his tenure in New England, Amendola developed into one of the most clutch players in franchise history.
