Katy Perry suffers wardrobe malfunction in 'American Idol' twerk battle


The teen, whose audition aired first on the episode, received a standing ovation from judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Giving it his all, auto crash survivor David Francisco was the last performance of the night. Now he's able to walk with the help of crutches.

The aspiring singer was belting out a version of Selena's Techno Cumbia when Katy and fellow judges Lionel and Luke Bryan made a decision to help her out.

Rissa Watson, 17, Apache, Oklahoma: Rissa's from a tiny town where everyone knows everyone. "It's not your language, it's just for us", Perry told her fellow judges, making Davis blush. Alyssa says her dad was there for every audition and every performance through her budding music career. At one point, he weighed 390 pounds and considered taking his own life, but instead, he turned himself around and lost 162 pounds and counting.

You can't keep Katy Perry off the dance floor. Katy had an obvious crush on Trevor, to the point she had to leave the room because he looked "so hot". Katy and Treavor did some major flirting, but alas, he has a girlfriend. and a golden ticket.

Michelle Sussett from Venezuela gave a fun and memorable audition, singing in Spanish and dancing a lot. Lionel noted his voice is "an incredible machine", and Katy said she can't wait to see him push his instrument even further.

She appeared to flash her underwear during the embarrassing moment, but TV bosses kept her covered up with a strategically placed American Idol logo. He touched the hearts of all three judges and won the Golden Ticket. But it was his day job that had the judges fascinated.

It comes as Katy took her Witness world tour to South America this week.

Gabbii Jones, 20, St. Louis: Her father has given her 30 days to make her dreams of stardom come true, or else she's got to get a job. She sang a rendition of "Almost is Never Enough" by Ariana Grande and finished her audition in tears.

Thaddeus sang "Don't You Worry Child" by Swedish House Mafia. It was a no.

While ABC's American Idol premiere night had brought the network its best rating since November 2014 and its largest audience since October 2012, the competitions second night was down 22% in the key demo, dropping from a 2.3 to a 1.8.
