Injuries taking toll on new-look Cleveland Cavaliers

Isaiah Thomas scored 20 points, nine assists and five rebounds against his former teammates, and Julius Randle had the best game with career-high 36 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, as the Los Angeles Lakers, defeated the depleted Cleveland Cavaliers, 127-113 on Sunday night.

Magic Johnson knows everyone is infatuated with LeBron James-Lakers rumors. The 2014 first-round pick was locked in from the field, as the 77.8 percent success rate he generated on the night served as his best since January 31.

LeBron James had 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Cavaliers.

James could leave Cleveland as a free agent this summer and the Lakers are tipped to land the 14-time NBA All Star. James entered the game averaging 26.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and a career-best 9.0 assists. Los Angeles emphatically snapped its seven-game losing streak against Cleveland.

If James were to sign with the Lakers or stay in Cleveland, he may have to readjust his thinking on a couple of key fronts.

In the first half, LeBron palmed the ball on the three-point line and it looked like we was set to hit Kyle Korver on the perimeter, but as everyone's eyeballs shifted towards the three-point shooter, LeBron had other ideas. Former Lakers fan favorite Larry Nance Jr. added 16 points while Jordan Clarkson was limited to four points in 16 minutes.

Although his first game against the Lakers was sub-par, Clarkson will have to wait next season if we wants to showcase more of his repertoire at the Staples Center since Eastern Conference teams only visit Western Conference arenas once a season.

"I thought he just out-toughed us", Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said.

"I'm 33, [LeBron James Jr.] is 13".

In Boston, Victor Oladipo scored 27 points, then committed a dead-ball offensive foul with 1.5 seconds left that gave the Celtics a shot to win at the buzzer, but the Pacers held on for the win.

The ESPN report also indicated that James was unhappy with the return the Cavs received for Irving once the news of Thomas' hip injury was revealed.

The Cavaliers' road trip continues with a Tuesday night contest against the Phoenix Suns that will tip off just after 10 p.m. ET.
