Nintendo has rolled out a new system update, version 5.0.0, to its Nintendo Switch console.

The update, which was outed earlier today, also adds 24 new ARMS and Kirby-themed user icons, as well as the ability to filter news to content from specific channels or just unread news. To ensure privacy, the default way to enter your PIN for Parental Controls has also been changed, with the control stick now serving as the default method, rather than the on-screen keypad.

The free app lets parents easily monitor how much their child plays on Nintendo Switch, choose how long they can play for each day, and set restrictions to limit what they can access. Nintendo has also teased that it is possible to get the recording time up to 15 minutes so this can also be implemented with a future firmware update.

Using the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, add specific software titles to your whitelist to exclude them from the console's Parental Controls Restricted Software setting. You can verify your current menu version and manually start the update from the System Settings menu if necessary.

This time, it appears to be either a leak or an unintentional mistake by Nintendo where they accidentally listed a different firmware update in the patch notes.
