Sherman: Chance to face Seahawks behind 49ers move

"I want to go to a contender", Sherman told KIRO-AM in Seattle on Friday.

"Once I make a Pro Bowl, $8 million the next year is guaranteed for me", Sherman said. It was such a great opportunity. Before the craziness of free agency gets under way and reshapes the landscape of the National Football League, I wanted to give the whole seven-round mock draft one more go-around. But now it's like I abandoned them. But Sherman referenced fans burning his jersey and the team's decision to dump him.

Before that happens, though, let's squeeze in one more mock draft.

Sherman smiled. "I've been at the 1-yard line before", he said, "and it didn't go so well". "I didn't abandon anybody".

As the new tax law in the United States, along with its ramifications for professional sports teams and athletes, continues to be revealed, San Francisco 49ers defensive back Richard Sherman may become a trendsetter. But he turns 30 later this month and is rehabbing an Achilles tear he suffered in Week 9 of the 2017 season. Not to mention, Talib will get to play opposite Marcus Peters, who was sent to Los Angeles via a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs.

The four-time Pro Bowl cornerback visited the team on Saturday and quickly agreed to contract terms with the team.

After missing out on Richard Sherman, the Detroit Lions are interested in another former Seattle cornerback.

"Richard is one of the premier competitors Kyle and I have ever encountered", 49ers general manager John Lynch said in a statement. He then told The MMQB it includes guarantees that roll over each season if he makes the Pro Bowl.

"Well, I'm the best corner in the game!" Good news for him and for San Francisco; bad news for agents.

Responding to Lynch's comments, Sherman said: "I'm vengeful in that way.", before explaining his sudden will to stick it to Seattle stemmed from some of the more questionable actions of fans who burned his jersey after learning of his departure.

Sherman, known for being a shrewd thinker, was "very impressive" for his preparedness and knowledge of the market, according to Niners contract specialist Paraag Marathe.

Sherman, at only 31 years old, could potentially have a lot left in the tank for a team that is willing to gamble on him. san Francisco is seemingly in a position where they feel they can afford to pay for a veteran who might not be on the team even two or three years from today.
