Russian Federation records another air crash

The helicopter belonged to one of special services of the Russian Federation. The emergencies services earlier reported there were nine people on board the Mi-8 of the Russian border service: two people survived, three died and four are missing.

Officials said the helicopter crashed in thick fog after its rotor clipped a mountainside while preparing to land.

Three people died in the Mi-8 helicopter crash, the Chechen Health ministry told TASS.

The disaster occurred just after the accident of an AN-26 plane in which 33 people were killed, including 27 officers, during a landing maneuver at the air base of Jmeinin, in Syria.

"Two medical brigades have been sent to the Shatoysky District in order to provide medical assistance".

"The reason for the crash according to preliminary information could have been a technical fault", the ministry said, adding that the plane had not come under fire according to a report from the ground.

As of 14:30 Moscow time, the bodies of three victims have been found.
