"President Buhari offered to assist Ghana in her fight against corruption, we hope he remembered that the world already knows that back home, his administration reeks of allegations bordering on corruption in high places and the Transparency International (TI) report has exposed the fact that corruption has worsened in Nigeria under his government", the statement added.

"Can a man without hair teach you how to comb your hair?"

President Buhari, for him, has made some progress in the fight against corruption in his country and therefore has every right to want to assist Ghana on what to do in order to succeed as well.

"Expecting Buhari to improve your situation is like expecting a man who couldn't pass mathematics to teach you how to pass additional mathematics".

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rather use the benefit of his state visit to Ghana to draw lessons from his Ghanaian counterpart, President Nana Akufo-Addo.

"He said; "... Your Excellency, I can assure you that you have a good partner in me in tackling endemic corruption".

The President had said his government was in talks with Togolese officials to address the crisis in that country.

President Muhhammadu Buhari has preached a message of peace and unity at Ghana's independence celebrations.

"From Nigeria, I have watched closely your achievements, ranging from your ingenious approach to creating jobs for the teeming youths through various initiatives, including the repositioning of agriculture for modern farming, "Farming for Jobs and Food", Senior High School (SHS) free education, One-District-One-Factory, and One-Village-One-Dam as well as the improvement being recorded in the Republic's macroeconomic indicators".

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, swore in three new Ambassadors, who are to safeguard and promote the image and interests of Ghana outside her shores in Japan, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. "One other reason the country and Africa could not continue to rely on aid is that there is aid fatigue".

"Permit me to put on record, Ghana's untiring efforts in brokering peace in Togo, by bringing all the warring parties to the negotiation table".

It noted that the determination of his government to wean itself of foreign aid was based on the fact that it was not the panacea for national socio-economic transformation.

In extolling the bilateral relations between Ghana and Nigeria, which dates back to many years ago he appealed that the relationship should be more stronger and also be extended it to a more stronger Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as well.
