Mario Tennis Aces Confirmed For June 22, 2018 Launch

Following a leak which revealed some details about the upcoming Mario Tennis Aces, Nintendo has confirmed the June release date and offered a slew of information about the latest Mario-themed tennis game.

However, you're not completely helpless if you're on the receiving end of a Zone Shot. The zone shot is a powerful new move that can inflict damage upon your rival's racquet; three strikes, and your racquet breaks, forcing you to forfeit the match. The "Zone Speed" on the other hand, can slow down time, allowing players to block tricky shots coming their way.

All of these abilities are powered by energy from a gauge that slowly fills up over the course of a rally.

Nintendo promised some fast-paced Mario Tennis action for today's Nintendo Direct, and they delivered! We also get to see the risky "Trick Shot" maneuvers that might be tricky to handle but can be of great help if you pull it off. With up to four-player local (additional accessories may be required and are sold separately) and online multiplayer, and a story mode that even includes creative boss battles, Mario Tennis Aces is one of the most robust Mario sports games yet.

"Swing Mode" will let you use the Joy-Con motion control to play the game in a different way that will have your body moving.

To participate in the Mario Tennis Aces free online tournament, players will need to hold a Nintendo Account. What's more, the House of Mario is also planning events and tournaments for the game, which will reward new outfits and bonus characters.
