President Buhari receives World Cup trophy

The United States-based team represented the country at the just-concluded Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy™ will be available for viewing by the general public at the Abuja Old Parade Ground on the 8 and 9 March 2018.

Having visited 30 countries since it began its globetrotting journey in January, the iconic trophy landed in Abuja and it was presented to the country's head by Christian Christian Karembeu.

With Nigeria's Super Eagles having qualified to participate in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Nigerians have great expectations and the showcase of the World Cup in Abuja and Lagos is building up fans' excitement ahead of this year's FIFA World Cup tournament - in which Coca-Cola is a favorite.

The president pledged his administration's support for the team towards winning the trophy in June.

He said, "Yes, we know there are a number of strong African countries in the game but Nigeria has always been a great footballing nation, and they have an exciting team heading to the FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation".

"Football has a cult followership in Nigeria".

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr Solomon Dalung, appreciated the efforts of President Buhari for his continued support for the Super Eagles and other sport activities in the country.

The President of Coca-Cola West Africa, Peter Njonjo, revealed that the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour was launched in 2006 as an excluCoca-Colanership by FIFA and Coca Cola.
