Gautam Gambhir wants to give Delhi their 'deserved' success in IPL

He said that it won't be hard to manage the players as the price tag is not in the players' hands.

"The target is not for me to come back, but the target is for the team to win".

Gambhir was at ease in answering the question about handling "high price-tag" players and said that performance would be the key for everyone, including himself.

He led them to the 2nd IPL title in 2014. "The key is to try and give 100%", he said.

Considering the leadership and batting impact that Gambhir had on KKR - as captain, he is arguably second to none - a perennially muddled franchise like Daredevils could hugely benefit from his presence. "I firmly believe that with the players now involved we have the makings of a very good side", Gambhir said.

Daredevils chief executive Hemant Dua made the announcement about the former India opener's appointment and also present on the occasion were teammates Naman Ojha and Manjot Kalra.

The Australian legend added, "He has a big personality, but it is the drive behind the outward confidence which I think will inspire the rest of the team".

"I had maintained that Gauti has unfinished business with the franchise".

Now, for the IPL 2018, the charismatic captain is back with his home franchise Daredevils to play the last part of his career in front of his own people.

His alliance with coach Ricky Ponting shows that DD have gone for champion leaders.

The team was also happy to extend its association with Daikin as the team sponsor, particularly with its aspiration to "fill the air with goodness".

Two-wheeler major Suzuki Motorcycle India under its brand Suzuki Gixxer', too, has tied up with the Delhi Daredevils (DD) as principal sponsor.
