Thunder G Roberson expected to miss rest of season

With the Thunder playing a road game, there wasn't any real reaction from the crowd, but before shooting his second free throw, Anthony held up his right hand in apparent acknowledgment of his achievement.

Van Gundy said his team didn't get back on defense fast enough many times, didn't do a good enough job on the boards (24 second-chance points for the Thunder) and didn't take care of the ball well enough (16 turnovers).

Carmelo Anthony became the 21st player in National Basketball Association history to reach the 25,000 career-point mark by scoring 21 points Saturday, January 27, in Oklahoma City's 121-108 win over Detroit. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Oklahoma City is averaging 96.8 points per 100 possessions with Andre Roberson on the court and 107.7 points without him.

Southern Illinois (14-9, 6-4 Missouri Valley conference) made 8 of 13 3-pointers and shot 64 percent (30 of 47) from the field. Paul George, who was named to the All-Star team Saturday, scored 26 points, and Westbrook was impressive throughout.

In a tough match up against another of the NBA's best young big men in Detroit's Andre Drummond, Adams was pulled up for a number of relatively soft fouls.

Veteran forward Carmelo Anthony said it was a heart breaking moment for his team. However, Roberson crumpled to the court after his leg bent in an awkward direction.

It was a day, however, when the outcome didn't seem the matter, even if it was Oklahoma City's seventh consecutive victory to bring the team to 29-20 on the season.

Roberson finished with five points and five rebounds in 22 minutes against Detroit. "We lost a little bit there, and rightfully so".

Detroit has dropped seven in a row, the league's longest current skid.

He remained there for the latter half of the quarter and the opening half of the fourth before getting back to close out the game.

"Their starters just dominated us", Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said. "You're not going to have one person go out and replace 25 points".
