Charly Musonda set to join Celtic

Musonda travelled from Stamford Bridge, where he was an unused substitute in Chelsea's 3-0 win over Newcastle United in the FA Cup, to Celtic Park on Sunday to continue negotiations, according to Sky Sports.

Celtic are running away with the Scottish Premiership and will hope to conclude another momentous domestic treble this season.

Musonda, a 21-year-old Belgian youth global, has been on the books of Chelsea since 2012, when he joined the club's academy from Anderlecht. However, Musonda will today hold talks with the Celtic manager, who has been eager to bolster his squad ahead of the Europa League tie against Zenit St Petersburg next month. He was also the only player in the Chelsea squad who did not take part in the post-match warm-down.

The signing of the Belgian starlet will be Rodgers' third signing of the January transfer window after they previously signed German defender Marvin Compper and winger Lewis Morgan.

A further bid is also expected to be tabled this week from Celtic for Dundee's Jack Hendry. The 35-year-old has damaged the medial ligaments after a collision with former team-mate Efe Ambrose.

Rodgers can turn to the experienced figure of Dorus de Vries but, with teenager Conor Hazard having joined Falkirk on loan last week, will need to draft in a suitable back-up to the Dutchman.

Musonda has made seven appearances for Chelsea with his only goal coming against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
