Leeds United agree deal for Middlesbrough midfielder

Leeds United could be going back to the future as it is understood that they have been keeping tabs on Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton, according to a report in The Express.

O'Kane's three-match suspension weakened Christiansen's options with Ronaldo Vieira recovering from a knee injury and Kalvin Phillips one yellow card away from a two-match ban.

Not even the arrival of new Boro boss Tony Pulis could change his fortunes and there is growing speculation that the tenacious midfielder will be allowed to leave the Riverside in this transfer window with the Whites among a host of clubs vying for his signature.

Forshaw progressed through the ranks of hometown club Everton.

Vurnon Anita and Conor Shaughnessy have both appeared in the team as midfielders, but Anita has been used nearly exclusively at fullback this season, despite his history as a midfielder, and Shaughnessy looked much better playing at centre-back this season rather than as a midfielder. After seven appearances at Griffin Park, he eventually signed for the club on a permanent basis. During his time at the club he scored 11 goals in 82 matches, before joining Wigan Athletic for a fee in the region of £2m.

One man that looks like it will have a big impact on is Adam Forshaw, who impressed in the Premier League last season, but has found himself down the pecking order under Pulis and his predecessor Garry Monk.
